Zusammenfassung
The Biology of Disease (3rd edition) provides a comprehensive overview of the principles of the disease process which has been updated to reflect the advances in the basic sciences of cell biology, immunology and the molecular mechanisms of disease. The book clearly explains the subject knowledge in a straightforward and simple fashion to facilitate learning the learning process. It is deliberately succinct but broad enough to ensure a good understanding of subject knowledge. The diagrams and figures are also carefully designed to present information in an uncomplicated manner. Each chapter within the book is designed to stand-alone but when taken together, provide a sound level of understanding of the principles of disease biology. The format of each chapter is identical to provide consistency in the manner of presentation. Furthermore case studies are included to show how an understanding of the biology of disease translates into clinical practice. Each chapter comes with a list of keywords that are fundamental to the topic, general introduction, summary and key points. Other reading material is also provided to enhance any subject specific knowledge and to aid self-directed study.
