Hamid Sulaiman was born in Syria. He was heavily involved in the Arab Spring, spending time in prison for his involvement in peaceful demonstrations, but managed to escape to Egypt before making his way to France. He is currently based in Paris. Freedom Hospital is his first book. Francesca Barrie studied French and Italian at Oxford University, and has an MA in French from University College London. She worked as a translator in Paris and was shortlisted for the Institut Françis's Young Translator of the Year prize, before moving back to London and into book publishing at Penguin Random House. She continues to work in publishing, and lives in London. |
