Inspired by the elegant dresses showcased in Godey's Lady's Book, Harper's Bazaar, Ladies' Home Journal, and other Victorian-era magazines, these 31 ready-to-color illustrations depict the well-dressed woman of the late 1800s.
Ming-Ju Sun, who has created over two dozen Dover books, is a BFA graduate in Studio Art and Art History, with graduate studies in Chinese history, Japanese Art History, and the History of Costumes and Textiles. She has worked in the fashion advertising field as an illustrator, art director, and photographer. Her original illustrations for the Garfinckel's store, along with the original drawings from Dover Publications' Fashions of the First Ladies Coloring Book are archived at the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of American History in Washington, D.C. Ming has exhibited artwork of natural material collages, as well as abstract watercolor works, in galleries in New York City and Washington, D. C.
