Through the uneven life of Sun Qian, a play writer, the book reveals the politics and ideology of the Party campaigns - Reevaluation of Cadres in Yanan, Criticizing Wu Sun, Criticizing Hu Feng, Anti-Rightists, Learning Dazhai, Cultural Revolution, and Reform. The first anti-corruption film in Mainland China written by him was stifled before its debut. He was criminalized for his words and had to escape from Beijing to Shanxi Province. Regretfully, he could not be buried in his hometown after his death. His uneven life and his writings left us numerous inspirations.
