In the middle of the war in 1942 Bletchley Park is making some great gains in decrypting German messages. But one MI5 agent thinks that there are German spies on British soil who are trying to steal information to undermine BP's success.
In the Lake District, Lady Marmalade is called to a murder. A young woman died on a farmer's field the morning after she rented a room from him. Her dying deed was to thrust a crumpled note into his hand for delivery to Lady Marmalade. But the note makes no sense and Lady Marmalade has never seen this woman before.
Close to Bletchley Park another young woman is found murdered. She was strangled to death and she worked at BP. She had a son at Rugby School she visited twice in two months. Is her son now in danger? Does he know something of her murder?
From decrypted German messages and spies, through the infighting of MI5 and MI6, Lady Marmalade is tasked not only with uncovering the murder of three seemingly unrelated deaths, but to save her own life in the process.
