One fateful night, on what was supposed to be a shakedown run for his newly bequeathed warship, the Reckless, Xerx's penchant for bad luck drags his slightly dysfunctional family into a myriad of near-fatal misadventures. Between run-ins with a mysterious assailant and the hazards of flying in an untested vessel, Xerx finds himself on a collision course with Paige and her crew, who are hot on the trail of the dissident followers of the Pirate clans' deposed usurper king.
