When a school assignment takes Henry Reede on an eye-opening journey through space and time, he realizes his dreams of becoming a doctor are more within reach than he imagined!
Christen Brown, MD, a resident physician from sunny South Florida, graduated from Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana--the vibrant cultural cornerstone that inspired this project. To Christen, New Orleans embodies not only the richness of African-American history but also the hopes, resilience, and triumphs of the community's present and future. The first medical doctor in her family, Christen considers it a privilege to practice a profession that allows her to deeply see and care for humanity. In her free time, Christen enjoys traveling with friends and family, and looks forward to sharing Black History Journeys with Henry: Icons in Medicine with her daughter one day. Christen's greatest hope for her debut book is that it honors the stories of African-American trailblazers in the medical field and inspires readers to persevere in the pursuit of being the best they can be.
