In a town where the people are colder than the weather, and the situation is crazier and more mysterious than anyone can possibly imagine, Chicago police officer Christian Hawk decides to take on the challenge of unravelling three months' worth of strange disappearances.
Opting to escape and fall into his work after a personal tragedy, officer Hawk ventures into the cold, desolate town of Holberg, Norway to attempt to uncover why multiple people have gone missing, with no obvious traces left behind except strange markings.
