Hyacinth Hercules Campbell, known as Errol or Spar, was born in December 1959 in Rose Hill Munich, Grenada. As the firstborn of Catherine Campbell and Francis Cave, he grew up surrounded by siblings and a rich cultural environment. His education spanned several primary schools, where he developed interests in sports and music. In 1984, Campbell migrated to Brooklyn, New York, seeking better opportunities. He navigated various jobs while managing family responsibilities, including caring for his son, Roger. His autobiography, Take a Walk With a Grenadian, reflects on his life experiences, challenges, and the lessons learned along the way.
