You grow up poor with no prospect of college. Your only way out is the US Army. Family life was loving, and growing up was fun. My mother taught me how to be a loving husband. My father taught me how to be a proper soldier. The Army taught me how to fight and survive. But it all added up to living with a minor inconvenience.
