Regarding the Book of Galatians: It seems that some people were troubling Paul as he wrote his epistle to the churches in Galatia, and they were:
- Some said that Paul was not a true apostle
- That he received his teachings from someone other than Jesus
- Some insisted that the pagan converts be circumcised
- The school of Gnostics was trying to steal converts and place them into a syncretic Christianity
Paul had his hands full teaching the true gospel of God to those who wanted to be part of the community of Jesus while fighting off those who were troubling him. However, over time, the truth of Paul's teachings became distorted, as mainstream Christianity insisted that Paul destroyed the Law of Moses by setting Christians free from that law. In opposition to this teaching, Paul said that a crown of glory awaited him. Therefore, if he led pagan converts away from the law, substituting faith and grace in its place, there would be no crown awaiting him, because he would have taught in opposition to what Jesus said.
This book contains all six chapters of Galatians, with honest commentary and teachings by Mr. David Johnson, a minister with the Church of God, a Worldwide Association, who allowed me to use his course information but was not instrumental in the writing of this book whatsoever. Mr. Johnson teaches the epistles of Paul and the writings of the apostles in a nine-month Foundation Institute course. Understanding the Book of Galatians counters unsubstantiated claims about what Paul taught in his epistle to the Galatians.
