It is a characteristic of our time that human action lacks high-voltage mental resources. Flashes of enthusiasm or excitement are rare, but activities that die out from their first steps are very frequent, there is lethargy, the inability to do something for the sake of a purpose that exceeds hesitations, efforts, fears. Thus, however, we reach the point where modern man spends his days simply trying to "endure" life.
Nothing is more urgent than to investigate, on the one hand, the causes that led to this decline and, on the other hand, the possibilities of recovery.
Such an effort is undertaken in this book. Its main goal is to reexamine the spiritual and psychic forces that tend to oppose what appears to be real and necessary. The scope will therefore be explored for some forms of today's unused and undervalued daydreaming, imagination, social and political visions, as well as those emotions that become nurseries of ideals, to support the human will again. No other path of life seems to be opening up except for the penetration of the super-real into the real, the invisible into the visible.
