Lion Rock: Contemporary Hong Kong Writing has been assembled to mark the 70th anniversary of Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU). The five Hong Kong?born authors collected here were all featured writers in HKBU's International Writers' Workshop (IWW) between 2021 and 2025. Considered one of the most prestigious writers' residencies in Asia, the IWW has hosted more than 150 writers from over 60 countries since its founding in 2004.

Over the past decade, this new generation has produced daring, provocative work that captures the everyday textures and existential concerns of the wider Hong Kong society.
