Jean C. O'Connor is a retired teacher in Montana, and the author of two historical novels about a "forgotten founder," James Lovell. As an educator, Jean received the NCTE High School Teacher of Excellence Award. A few lines in her grandmother's journal inspired Jean's interest in James Lovell, her five times great-grandfather. Lovell was a teacher at the Boston Latin School, prisoner of the British for spying following the Battle of Bunker Hill, and congressman for five years during the Revolution. For his work with cryptography while in Congress, James Lovell has been called "the Revolution's one-man National Security Agency" by William Friedman, long time director of the National Security Agency. Lovell is also an honored inductee into the National Security Agency's 2023 Cryptologic Hall of Honor for his work during the Revolution.Jean has presented frequently, including for the Museum of the American Revolution, Philadelphia, a webinar for Fort Ticonderoga, and the Schorreck Lecture at the National Cryptologic Museum, NSA, Fort Meade, MD.
