The review took forty minutes. The debrief, twelve. The sentence itself, about five seconds.
And it still shows up at 2:13 in the morning, like it has an access badge to your bedroom.
That persistence is usually the first sign that something has stopped being an administrative event.
The meeting ended. The task is finished. The person who said it went to lunch and has not thought about it since.
You, meanwhile, are still running it - the tone, the expression, the exact wording, what you should have said instead, what everyone in the room must think of you now, and what the whole thing means about where your career is headed.
Before anything else, Lysander Berg asks you to reject two explanations.
The first: If I were tougher, this wouldn't bother me.
The second: If it bothers me this much, it must be true.
Neither one follows. Not logically, not psychologically.
