Michael Nava a recipient of the Bill Whitehead Award for Lifetime Achievement in LGBTQ Literature, is the seven-time Lambda Literary Award-winning author of an acclaimed series of eight novels featuring gay, Latino criminal defense lawyer Henry Rios who Garth Greenwell, writing in The New Yorker, called "a detective unlike any previous protagonist in American noir." The New York Times Book Review has called Nava "one of our best" crime fiction writers and the Washington Post "a master" of the legal thriller. A graduate of Stanford Law School, Nava began his legal career as a prosecutor in Los Angeles and ended it as a judicial staff attorney on the California Supreme Court working on death penalty appeals and habeas corpus petitions. Salvation represents a summation of his legal and literary careers.
